Nigerian Student Sentenced To Death In Malaysia For Drug Trafficking


A 28 year old student in the name of Prince Bartholowmew Obitube, has been sentenced to death by Malaysian high court for trafficking drugs.

On February 26, the Shah Alam High Court found him guilty of trafficking cannabis, also known as marijuana and charged him death penalty.
Bartholowmew was arrested on Aug 20, 2011 with 9,189kg of cannabis at Desa Satu Apartment, Gombak .
He was caught by police from the Gombak Narcotic Crime Investigation Department, after a tip off, within the apartment area after he tried to run away with a backpack containing the drugs.
Under the Malaysian legislation, specifically the Dangerous Drugs Act, such an act is subject to mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
