Tosin Ogunbiyi a bus conductor has
been accused of beating up a policewoman identified as Sgt. Oluwatosin Yaya as she was lawfully carrying out her
duty.
The woman
chased after them after they'd intentionally splashed dirty water on her face.
When she caught up with them, she placed an iron bearing nails on the vehicle’s
tyres. That was when the driver and the conductor came down from the bus and
beat her and while some police men came to the scene to intervene the driver
ran into his bus and drove off without the conductor making it into the bus with
him.
“She could
have been beaten to death said”, Cpl Kehinde Olatunde.
The conductor
appeared before an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday charged with
breach of peace, conspiracy and assault. He however pleaded not guilty to the
charge.
Presiding
over the matter, the Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola, granted the accused bail in
the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum and the case was adjourned till
March 20.
