After an increase in complaints by locals about
criminal events in the area the officials decided to conduct a raid at about
1.00 am in the night and arrested 106 male and 12 female including one pregnant
woman.
About 160 people were arrested but after intense
screening at Alausa Ikeja, only the 118 where put behind bars.
Chief Superintendent of Police and taskforce chairman
Bayo Sulaiman, revealed that the raid went on from the initial starting time of
1.00 am till 2.00 am and the hoodlums were picked up from under the bridge,
abandoned and property, among others.
Sulaiman said: “We have been receiving text
messages and people calling us that they are been harassed by hoodlums at
Oshodi. We realised that we have to go after them again.”
“We got information of where they are staying to
smoke Indian hemp and we swooped on them and arrested them.”
