Reports of Defence minister, Mr Aliyu Gusau’s resignation
yesterday, caused quite a stir.
Mr. Gusau was said to have submitted his
resignation after a row he had with defence chief of staff, Alex Badeh.
Gusau, has denied widespread reports of his
resignation.
A national daily had sent him a text asking if he
had resigned and in a brief text message, he replied, "No I did not".
Gusau said the reports about him leaving office
were unfounded.
Reuben Abati, spokesperson for President Goodluck
Jonathan, had yesterday denied the reports saying that Gusau’s absence at the
weekly federal cabinet meeting was due to illness.
This is coming not long after the Federal
government concluded plans to go after Boko Haram sponsors in a bid to curtail
Boko Haram deadly attacks.
